omg it had been so busy since sch roepen.
staying back everyday,loads of homework everyday.
it was CCA display yesterday.
went around shouting like crazy.-.-
so tiring.n the sec 1s.
they just run away like we were dunno wat when we stop them.-.-
we didnt manage to get ALOT of ppl,unfortunately.
bt there were quite a few frm CO in their pri sch.
we were like 'fighting' with band?
fighting who was louder.
n we r side by side.-.-
it was really noisy.
plus NCC drums too.
i saw chian kiap.lol.so shuai.
and watched a bit of the parade.
i woke up this morning n saw the sunday times on the table.
something caught my eye immediately.
the front page read: IS IT TIME TO RETIRE THE SINGAPORE GIRL? news: pg 3-4
i read the article immediately.
i will just summarise wat is it about. u can go n read the article on sunday times. =)
basically it says some ppl say it's time for the singapore airline's 'icon', the singapore girl to retire,at the age of 35 nw.
she had played a part in making SIA internationally recognised.
however,some ppl say it's time to change the image of 'the singapore girl'.
she shows the 'subservient asian woman' , n it's time the singapore girl moves on.
ppl say tt her image may now be dated.
SIA is really strict bout hw the air stewardess look,to carry out this image.
for example: hair must b black or dark brown,no highlights,no dying.
long hair must b coiffed neatly into a bun,short hair above the collar line n fringe shld b above eyebrow.(doesnt it sound like sch?)
no fanciful,dangling earings.only studs or pearls.
no chains or necklace,only simple ring or bracelet allowed.
toenails shld b in BRIGHT RED colour as prescribed by the company.
eyebrows must b shaped,not tattooed or drawn on.
eyeshadow must b of the colour prescribed by company,either brown or blue,depending on skin colour.
lipstick must b among the few shades of BRIGHT RED prescribed by company.no pink of plum.
nail polish must b of BRIGHT RED colour prescribed by company,nails shld nt b chipped.
SEE.OMG.wat is wrong with them?
ppl say it's time to change the image becoz SIA's air stewardess's images r kind of 'old fahsioned',the 'archaic look'- thick foundation,garish eyeshadow,flaming red lips.
i agree tt their make up shld b changed.
i mean.imagine.red toenails,red nail polish,red lipstick.
bt some ppl even said tt they shld change the uniform(the sarong kebaya).
i dun think they shld.
tt's wat make the SIA stewardess unique isnt it?
tt's hw ppl ard the world recognise them?
they say they shld change to business suits.-.-
n wat is wrong with SIA?
y must they b so strict?
they think they r choosing wat?miss world universe?-.-

IT'S NOT SUCH AN EASY WAY TO FLY
the glamour,attractive pay and free travel are some of the perks commonly associated with 'the singapore girl'.
bt ppl do not noe hw difficult the job is.
to begin with,landing with the job is no mean achievement as the selection process is known to b notoriously rigorous.
candidates go through 6 rounds of interviews and tests,including a reading test,public speaking test,water confidence test,n a 'kebaya test'.
they hv to wear the kebaya n they r scruntinised on hw we look in it,they way they walk n carry themselves.
after the job is secured,they hv to undergo 4 n half months of training,n 2 year bond.
after she starts flying,there's a long list of rules to memorise.
'cant take public transport,cant loither in public,cant talk loudly,cant misbehave,cant be seen without make up.'
even when they r out of uniform they r under scrutiny of their supervisors,particularly on wat they eat.( cant eat fast food etc)
once they put on weight,they will b grounded until they shed the extra weight.(wth?)
the job can b physically draining too,example rest is limited to 3 hrs on a long flight.
she also has to b a multi-tasker.
OMG.
SIA is crazy.
im nt after this job becoz of the attractive pay etc obviously.
bt after reading the newspaper i dun think i can qualify.
really admire those air stewardesses.
n u must b really really gd be able to get the job.
SINGAPORE.-.- everything oso must b the best.
can they stop being so...old fashioned?
